What is happening in regulated Carbon markets?


The EU policymakers will reconvene after the record braking hot summer break to finalise negotiations on the "Fit for 55"-package, which aims to bring EU legislation in line with the 2030 goal. It is an ambitious package, and challenges in the negotiation package were always expected, even more so in the current environment with high energy prices, high inflation and increased focus on social costs.

 

Carbon emission pricing is a crucial data point for investors. CO2 pricing data is key in managing climate risk scenarios, transition risk and adapting investment portfolios to climate goals. The EU ETS is the world's largest cap-and-trade market and therefor a global benchmark. It is also systematically underrepresented in investors' strategies.
